FAQ: Questions about the OKTAV app

Can I use the app with a pre-existing subscription?

Yes. All subscribers can use the app without additional costs. After the (free) download, use your account data to log in.

Can I start my subscription in the app?

Yes. As a new customer, you can use our free 7-day trial. You can access both the app and the web platform during that time.

Can I download the app for free?

Yes. Download the OKTAV app for free, and if you’re a new customer, simply sign up to start your free 7-day trial. After that, subscriptions are subject to a charge at the same conditions as via the web platform.

Does the app offer all the features of the web platform?

The web platform offers more features. We recommend using both the web platform and the app. With a subscription, you can access both. The app covers the OKTAV Playing plan, which is the selection of sheet music OKTAV offers, minus these features: It is not (yet) possible to digitally annotate your sheet music or use our MIDI play-along features. You cannot upload your own sheet music via the app. Also, you cannot make in-app single purchases. All of those features are of course available on the web platform

Do I have the option to print sheet music within the app?

Yes, you can print sheet music as part of your paid subscription.

Which app features can be used by OKTAV Learning customers?

The app includes the features included in our sheet music service (“OKTAV Playing”). With their login, OKTAV Learning customers can use all app features at no additional cost.

Can app users with a subscription access and use the web platform as well?

Yes. A subscription with OKTAV always gives you access to all features included, based on the services you have booked.

Which devices/platforms can use the app?

The OKTAV app is available for iOS devices (Apple iPhone and iPad). At this point, there is no Android app available.

What are the system requirements for using the app?

The device must be running at least iOS 17 to use the app.

Do new customers get a free 7-day trial?

Yes. You can either subscribe via the app or the web platform. In both cases, you can profit from the free trial week.

How does the app differ from the web platform?

The app offers an optimized playing experience for piano sheet music and has been re-developed from the ground up. This makes the app leaner and faster. The web platform, on the other hand, offers additional features such as the option to add annotations, play-along features of sheet music, and the option to upload your own sheet music.

Can I purchase individual arrangements via the app?

No, single purchases are not possible.

Can I open my single-purchase sheet music in the app?

No, the app can only be used in conjunction with an OKTAV subscription at this point.
